Vogue model Edie Campbell could be
considered one of the luckiest girls in the world as she got to pose
slap bang in the middle of One Direction, sandwiched between Zayn Malik
and Harry Styles' (with the latter's hands all over her), but according
to the 22-year-old, she's didn't fancy them at all.
Edie got to pose with the 'One Thing' hitmakers for a classic shoot
by photographer Patrick Demarchelier, and talking to the fashion tome
she said: "I tried to fancy them, really I did, but I just didn't."The model continued: "They reminded me of my little sister's friends. I hadn't realised how big they were to be honest. I was perhaps the only female left under 25 who wasn't aware of their superstardom status, but I'm much more of a fan now."
She added: "They're such sweet, nice boys, and incredibly enthusiastic. They wanted to be famous and now that they are famous, you get the impression that they still love it, which is really nice to see."
We're used to tales of the lads' charm when it comes to the ladies, so we were surprised to hear that the boys didn't really try it on with Edie. But predictably, the only one that did speak up was.... Harry Styles.
"The others didn't really say much to me, just Harry. He looks so young, but he's so sweet. The hair was very prominent - it was swept back like lots of teenage boys' wear it. The hair was impressive. He left me hanging at the end of the day though. We went to say goodbye and I gave him a kiss on the cheek, I went into the right and then to the left - like you do in fashion, the double kiss - and by the time I'd got round to the left, he'd disappeared. There was no serenade; no What Makes You Beautiful, nothing."
So maybe Edie did have a soft spot for Harry after all. But the model admits that she's not keen on overzealous Directioners.
"As long as they don't appear at my door with fire-lit torches, I reckon I can handle it. I don't fancy any sort of witch hunt - it could be like the trials of Salem all over again," she said.
In his interview with Vogue, Harry revealed that he doesn't take the media attention too seriously, and admits that he'll "never get used" to screaming fans.
"You're never going to get used to walking into a room and have people screaming at you. There's a lot of things that come with the life you could get lost in. But you have to let it be what it is. I've learnt not to take everything too seriously."
